Googletanning and jibbing in Zillertal Arena

After 2 weeks of sun, the Alps need more snow! But the sunny weather continues. The crew in Austria stayed in Zillertal, and went to Zillertal Arena. The weather forecast predicted snowfall, but it never came... So instead we went for jibbing and to improve our googletan.

Zillertal Arena showed a sunny side and we really enjoyed carving, jibbing and some apfelstrudel.

The last days have been kind of hard on us. We all realy need some new snow to get the spirit up. But we still work hard for the project and focus on the next leg of our jurney. Mabye the snow will come next month.

Report from Disentis

Part of the team is now in Disentis, Switzerland. Linus hooked up with Viktor and Danne and a bunch of other people. It's warm and sunny here and it hasn't snowed for a week so the conditions aren't perfect, but still OK. The north-facing slopes offer light, cold snow, while the sun-catchting slopes alter between crust and slush.

Valentines day was celebrated with a high-standard dinner

Unluckily, Danne managed to break his collar bone while doing some extreme cattracking on his way to a great run. He's now looking forward to four weeks of not snowboarding...

Today Petrus made an awesome subwoofer, from problably the worlds smallest speakers.
And we celebrated with the mountains best pizza and apfelstrudel.

Well, time is up, Krippenstein is skied out. The snow is wind packed and we are satisfied with our stay.
Tomorrow we are picking up Kim at Salzburg airport and leaving Petrus and Linus at the same time. Petrus is going to the Dominican Republic for 2 weeks and Linus is leaving for Disentis.

35 fresh cm:s and counting

After a couple of days of warm weather and heavy snow we almost had decided to leave this place. But this morning we woke up to 35 cm:s of new snow, and it kept snowing all day. Krippenstein was just as good as when we were here two years ago! The snow was also more stable then a couple of days ago.

We got some good runs on film, including a miscalculated turn that ended with a 5 meter fall from a cliff down in white, soft powder.
The weather forecast is predicting sunny weather the next couple of days, so we´re looking forward to some really good days of filming!

Unstable conditions

Today we got up really early to take advantage of the new fresh snow that fell yesterday. When we came up on the mountain we realized that it had been very windy during the snowfall, so the conditions weren´t so great after all. Mackan was the first to trigger a small avalanche, and he was followed by the rest of us. It was an easy desicion not to do any big runs today.

Instead we headed to a calm place and did some beacon practice.
However, further down in the woods the snow was stable so at least we got some nice shots there.

Car, snow and filming

After the super crazy weekend on ISPO (Münich) we took the schnabelmobil and headed towards Krippenstein.

After installing ourselves at Hotel Seerose, we talked to the hotel manager Mark about the weather over the last couple of weeks, and he told us about hard rain and warm temperatures above 2500 meters.
And it was true. The snow on the mountain was windpacked and icy but because we are schnabelkäse produktion and have a great releationship with the weather gods we recieved 10 cm of fresh snow the day after.
And there is more were that came from...
So there is still hope for the schnabel boys in the south.

As you can see we can´t wait for the big dump that will make the whole mountain skiable!
