Stevens Pass

After a job well done and a New Years Eve well celebrated in Mt Baker we set our course to Stevens Pass, our last destination on this trip. During the last couple of months we had spoken a lot to Chris, our guy on the mountain, and he had seriously arranged everything! You’re the man Chris!! We arrived in the evening and checked in to our hotel after picking up our lift passes at the resort. The light snow falling on our cars did not make us less exited. We went for a meal in the village which by the way was built like an Austrian alp village. Felt rather strange to order schnitzel und apfelstrudel!!
First day skiing was Saturday and the last day of the American holidays, so the place was really crowded. Luckily Chris hooked us up with JimJack who showed us around the area, and got us some of that white powder that we care so much for. (Snow). In the evening the friendly Americans invited us to try some of the local malt, and Sunday we went to church…..
Monday was a busy day filming because the bad news about warm winds and rain from Hawaii reached us. The storm was going to hit Stevens Pass Tuesday afternoon. When we woke up Tuesday morning it was raining big time, and it was raining all the way up to 1 mile before the resort where the snow took over. Thank god!! We knew this was the last day skiing so we just gave it all until the rain started to take over again. “Life’s to short to ski in rain” (JimJack the 3rd). Unfortunately we couldn’t ski as much as we wanted, but that’s just part of the game. Stevens Pass is a really fun mountain with lots of possibilities, so I’m sure we’ll be back to ski the rest of it…..some sunny dayJ. Thank you Stevens Pass and a special thanks to Chris who really made this week perfect! Also a big thank you to JimJack our guide 24 hours….
We spent the last days in the hotel hot tub doing nothing before we went back to Seattle and had a party in good old SCH-spirit. I’m sure Adde will tell you all about it in the next blogJ

Happy new year in Mt Baker

The forecast didn’t lie. It was snowing and snowing and we had about 30 cm of fresh snow every day for almost a week! Didn’t see the sun, but when we’re spoiled with powder we can’t complain. Since we couldn’t see much we had to forget about the big mountain skiing and move into the forest. Mt Baker is known for the good tree skiing and nice pillow lines, and let me tell you that we were not disappointed. Amazing snow and terrain that made you creative and happy. We had lots of fun filming and skiing in Mt Baker, and we were skiing every day, even the day after New Years Eve which surprised me when I think back of the night activities a few hours earlier. New years eve was celebrated in our house with good food (not burgers with fries), nice music and lots of lemonade for grown ups. The pictures will talk for themselves. Satisfied we went to bed after the last day of skiing in Mt Baker, and woke up full of expectations. Stevens Pass was the next destination, and the latest news were….guess what…heavy snowfall. Surprise?? Later!!// Pierre

Last day in Crystal and first ones in Mt Baker

After eating Christmas dinner at a Mexican restaurant at Christmas Eve, we woke up to a new day with fresh powder. It was a quiet day at the mountain, but still a lot of locals to fight with, to reach the good stuff that been falling over night. But Tiana at Crystal marketing set us up with a Ski Patroller that took us skiing at O-Meadows (O for orgasm), an area that been closed, so no tracks except ours…Mackan took the first line; I and Kim threw a good old stone-paper-scissors to decide who to ski second which make the Patroller laugh. The snow was amazing and we got a lot of good clips for the movie.
When we came back to the resort we went for a nice all American style BBQ with beers and burgers at the Crystal lodge.
Half way home; a tree had fallen over the road and was blocking it. So there we and a lot of others were standing, talking and waiting for Tianas father to come to the rescue us with his chainsaw. Some of the lads did heroic attempt to pull the tree away, but when the chainsaw (which by the way has the biggest blade I have ever seen) everything was solved in just a minute.
Thank you Crystal Mountain for a great time and great experiences. Next stop Mt Baker. Latest forecast…..snow, snow and some snow on the top.
So after travelling for a couple of hours we were in the little town of Glacier which is located 30 minutes from Mt Baker, where we had rented a house.
To ski in Mt Baker comes with a lot of expectations, lot of snow, good tree skiing and great back country skiing. Yes, it was snowing, a lot! We had an average of 30cm fresh snow per day. So Mt Baker showed us it´s best side. The only bad things the first days was that it was snowing so much we had to stay in the forest to be able to take photos and to film. But the good thing, the tree skiing is great; a lot of space, nice pillows and other fine stuff to play with!
We soon write more of our trip to Mt Baker. See you all soon!!!
